I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve heard business owners say:
“I don’t like chasing people.”
Does this sound familiar? Is it something that resonates with you? Usually it means you are reluctant to follow up with someone who has expressed interest in your services or product.
It may even mean you won’t contact someone who has bought from you before.
Perhaps you worry about being pushy, aggressive or sales-y?
Don’t be shy!
The fact is, many people need chasing! We all lead busy lives, and sometimes other stuff gets in the way.
Your potential customer may have got distracted. They may even have intended to get back to you, but just not got around to it.
Very few people will object to you following up with them.
You don’t have to be pushy, and you definitely don’t need to be aggressive! Just drop them a line, or pick up the phone, and ask them if there’s anything you can do to help.
Here are some of the questions you could ask:
- Do you have any questions (about my …. [service / product] ?
- Do you need a reminder of what I offer, or would it be helpful for me to go over what the options are again?
- Would you like me to suggest what might fit your needs best?
In my experience, this approach will often lead to some business.
And that, after all, is why you do what you do!
So don’t be shy! Why not reach out and contact someone today?
